The late Dr. Kazemi Ashtianei, the founder of Royan Institute was a
great scientist and powerful manager who spent his short life
contributing to his country’s progress in science and technology,
especially in reproductive biomedicine and stem cell research.
Respecting his efforts and to revive his memories amongst national and
international scientists as well as nonscientists, the Supreme Leader
of the Islamic republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered to
allocate a yearly prize entitled “Dr. Kazemi” to be given in the field
of Biology. Now Royan Institute with the collaboration of the Vice
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Science and Technology has
started awarding this prize by organizing a nomination committee
consisting of different specialists to nominate scientists who make
great contributions in the fields of cell biology, biomedicine and stem
